What is RAIM?
The Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist Movement (RAIM) is a collective of revolutionary communists based primarily in the imperialist countries of north amerika and western europe.
We aim to build support for a broad front against imperialism, while simultaneously confronting opportunism and chauvinism in the First World left. We recognize that our location within the “belly of the beast” has presented us with a unique set of conditions, around and against which our practice must be constructed. Confronted by a complacent working class, served by an opportunist left, and alienated from the proletariat through the reception of surplus value drained from the Third World, we must understand the ideological and strategic implications of struggle from within the parasitic core. It benefits neither the left in the oppressor or the oppressed nations to pretend that the condition of the working class around the world is the same.
If the condition of the workers in the oppressor and oppressed nations is not the same, it stands to reason that the practice of the left in the oppressed and oppressor nations cannot be the same. In view of this, we strive to create a community of interests with the revolutionaries and the Third World rather than First World imperialism; support the struggles for national liberation among the internal colonies rather than the chauvinist movements of the colonial labor aristocracy; push forward a program of Decolonization, Global People’s War and of the Joint Dictatorship of the Proletariats of Oppressed Nations, against the idea that the stolen wealth of the overdeveloped countries is to be used to enrich the lives of their citizens alone; and towards the internationalization of the wealth and means of production captured by the oppressor nations. To be a Third Worldist, in our view, is to be a principled internationalist.
Points of Unity
RAIM unites sororally with all organizations and individuals who uphold these points:
1) Revolutionary Socialism
It is the objective of any revolutionary socialist organization to make revolution. Our goal is not simply to alleviate the worst effects of capitalist accumulation or to beg that the authorities adopt a more humane face in the oppression of the masses. To unite with us is accepting that revolution against capitalism is our ultimate goal.
We reject any and all attempts to cultivate obscurantist romantic, patriotic, equivocal, or opportunist sympathies for one’s country or imperial aggressors/oppressors. The opposite of jingoism and oppressor-nation nationalism is internationalism, to reserve our solidarity, cooperation and support for the oppressed and their mass movements worldwide. We do not resign ourselves or our work to purely local problems, but seek to constantly connect them to higher and more fundamental struggles to unite all oppressed peoples.
The principal enemies of our movements are those imperialist blocs to which our countries belong or are subjected to. In the 21st century, all western peoples’ first and foremost enemy should be u.$. and european domination in the form of NATO and other imperialist organizations. This necessitates a program of principled revolutionary defeatism with regards to inter-imperialist rivalries involving our imperialist blocs and countries in particular, and a maintained opposition to their political, economic, and cultural world-hegemony; all of our time, energy and resources must be put towards the defeat of western imperialism. This includes not only the retreat of western imperialism in its conquests abroad, but the national liberation of those who have been conquered, annexed or occupied by the oppressor nations.
4) Revolutionary Feminism
We will not compromise our support for the gender/sexually oppressed people who suffer under the weight of patriarchal society. We cannot find unity with those who assist in or even deny the oppression of women and queer people, and who reject the existence of transgender people and their struggle. No common cause can be found with patriarchal oppressors.
We cannot unite with those who stand alongside the oppressors and the exploiters in the ranks of the military or the security forces (i.e. the pigs). Our struggle is against, not with, those who enforce the rule of the colonial and imperial states on the oppressed people of the world, and we make no exceptions. Unity with us means opposition to the oppressors and exploiters, nothing less.
What do we do?
Practically, RAIM exists as a collection of cells. These cells can be divided into two categories: on-the-ground cells and media-based cells. On-the-ground cells are involved in building public opinion in support of Third Worldism through practical work and agitation, working toward building independent institutions of the oppressed which challenge the material and cultural hegemony of the bourgeoisie, and building coalitions with other like-minded groups and individuals with worked-out line differences. Media cells are, as the name implies, primarily involved in media projects.
RAIM cells are somewhat independent and are responsible for making decisions for themselves without needing to wait for orders from a central command. All RAIM cells are, however, united around RAIM’s points of unity and Third Worldist line.
There are a million reasons to oppose capitalism-imperialism but only one solution: revolution. But revolutions do not just happen spontaneously. They require the dedicated efforts of an advanced element representing the proletariat. RAIM exists to push forward the subjective forces of socialism and communism. Yet what we are doing so far is only the beginning. And we need your help.
Through our various on-the-ground and media cells, RAIM provides a number of ways for people to get involved. We strongly encourage those who find agreement with our points of unity and are looking to do something to contact us.
